What is actually going on – on Instagram
Hi my loves,
I probably should have called this category “the Instagram 101” because as I see from many of your questions and in my daily business, Instagram is a big interest of many. And rightly so!
Therefore, as Instagram is a big part of both my business and private life, I want to give you a look behind the scenes. In my last post I talked about finding your own style on Instagram.
Instagram is part of my job without a doubt. However (and maybe even because of that) I would never consider myself an „Instagram girl“. I mean, even calling myself girl would feel extremely weird.
Actually, my main job is blogging and creating content for that platform and Instagram is my way to communicate visually and interact more closely with the community.
So I would consider myself a Digital Content Creator. Yes, that’s definitely the best description. Visual Storytelling is key. Instagram is simply an addition to that.
Lately, I started stumbling upon the term „Instagram Blogger“ and I am still really confused by it. What exactly is that supposed to mean? What do you even do? I’ve often asked myself this and probably, only a few know what’s behind this mysterious kind of „job“.
And honestly: At the moment, I’d describe my relationship with Instagram as a hate love thing.
One day, I love all the pictures and the inspiration they give me and the next day I hate the ever-boring, same looking feeds and the much talked about algorithm.
I think, one of the reasons is the increasing competitiveness amongst Bloggers that is starting to really take over. And on the other side, as „Instagrammer“ is a job now apparently, there are so many people that start it with an attitude of „Oh, I’ll just open an account, become an Instagram Blogger and make millions“.
“Instagrammer“ is a job now apparently, there are so many people that start it with an attitude of „Oh, I’ll just open an account, become an instagram blogger and make millions“. Of course, I don’t have to tell you that it rarely ever works that way.
Actually, Instagram is an amazing platform that attracts millions of creative souls and becomes a source of inspiration for them and me daily.
However, I often hear from colleagues that they are actually thinking about taking a break from Instagram. Part of me can understand why, because as great as it is (or was), Instagram can really exhaust and frustrate you. To avoid that tiredness of it, sometimes I consciously stay away from Instagram for some time to then start with a clear mind and new energy!
And I gotta admit, I have often thought about doing a digital detox, too. Sometimes I give myself a day off, sometimes even two. I haven’t made it for over two days yet since of course, I love the digital world, it is my dream job and I wanna stay in touch with you guys!
However, maybe we won’t even have to think about Instagram for too long anymore.
Some colleagues of mine are even convinced that the big time of Instagram will be over soon and it won’t be the meaningful platform it is right now.
I don’t really share this opinion. Although I did say before that Instagram is not my only platform and I don’t know wether to love or hate it sometimes, I still think that Instagram offers many advantages and great features. Theorem I am sure that it will stay one of the most influential social networks amongst all of the platforms that exist.
So to conclude: Instagram is definitely still worth the hype!
Just don’t let jealousy, competition and other factors distract you! Don’t try to imitate others and more importantly: Focus on yourself and stay real! That will really make you unique on Instagram and will keep the fun and creativity flowing.
After you’ve heard my round-up on this, I would love to know:
What do you think about the whole thing? Are the the big days of Instagram really over?
Definitely let me know!

I’m pretty sure you know the song “Don’t believe the hype” … so after Instagram there will be something and so on and so on …
I don’t find any added value there, inspiration that I read all over the place about Instagram is just an excuse as if it’s to copycat … that’s very far from inspiration which results in creation of new things 😉

Yes I know the song very well 😉 for me it is most important that Instagram is also a lot of fun and boots my creativity! Whenever I feel uninspired by the app I pause just for a days or two and afterwards it is much easier again.
Have a great evening my dear,

I think Instagram is both: very inspiring and also worth the hype! Of course we all do have some better and some bad days. But hey that’s life, right?

Instagram is often so embarrassing! Can’t stand all of these girls with their attitude, it is so funny sometimes. xoxo, Maria
